History of the band
The band was formed on March 3, 1983, by six musicians from Tenbury High School including current conductor Melanie Parker. The band’s first conductor was Keith Colwell, a local police officer and former member of the Worcestershire & Sherwood Foresters Regimental Band.
Since its formation, the band has performed at many major concerts along with regimental bands such as Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters, The Prince of Wales Division Lucknow Band, West Midlands Police Band, the Coldstream Guards and the Band of the Royal Corps of Signals. The band has also made several overseas tours, including visits to Frankeneck - Germany, Pont du Casse - France, Fort Scott - Canada, Ayia Napa - Cyprus, Gibraltar and Disneyland Paris.
